Duo Tian

Visiting Scholar

Ph.D. NORTHWEST UNIVERSITY

Duo Tian is a visiting scholar in archaeobotany, hailing from Northwest University in China. With expertise in plant remains and foodways in China and trans-Eurasian cultural exchanges, Duo will collaborate with members of the Archaeological Science Lab to study micro-plant remains from 5000-2000 BP in the Central Plain of China, Northwest China, and Central Asia. The goal of this research is to understand the subsistence features of these areas and explore potential cultural exchanges. Duo's work has been funded by the Chinese Scholar Council and the National Social Science Fund of China. Duo has also contributed to the field with published research papers on barley cultivation by agro-pastoralists in prehistoric Xinjiang, Northwest China.
